Instead of the sharp boundaries that exist today, there should be a symbiotic relationship between the University of Maryland and College Park, with each providing resources and vision for shared projects that can improve both the University and the city. The University wants to attract top-tier students and faculty. The city of College Park wants [...]

Stevie Fanchise might actually become a franshise. The Diamondback reports that the one-time Maryland Basketball star could trade dunking the “rock” to dunking buffalo wings to become a partner with current ‘Fe owners. The long-time Terp hangout will undergo extensive renovations this summer. In the meantime, Srour said Santa Fe will be closing May 24 [...]

The DIAMONDBACK reported back in November that the Washington Post is closing its College Park printing plant sometime before June 2010. This will result in a $272,000 loss in tax revenue for the city. What does this have to do with the new Kindle DX? Probably nothing. But it does show how newspapers are struggling [...]

The county might be pulling the plug on the Trailer Park drive though on Route 1. Lasicks’s used be a decent resaurant that burned to the gound several years ago. The owners have always been involved with the city in many positive ways. But come on. Enough is enough with the “temporary” trailer. The county-issued liquor [...]

In case you missed it, I wrote an opinion column that was published in last Wednesday’s Diamondback student newspaper entitled “Wawa, good riddance”. To read it, go here. In summary, I celebrated the demise of the College Park Wawa and how it symbolized the less than desirable conditions of College Park. And while Wawa wasn’t [...]

College Park’s nighttime revelers received another fatal blow this week after news surfaced that Wawa will be closing its doors. With the Thirsty Turtle apparently never opening, it’s hard to imagine where the increasingly large crowds “downtown” will go Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Can 7-11 measure up? We think not.
