2006 Student Charrette

On April 8, 2006 the University of Maryland Student Government Association sponsored a student-led design charrette to imagine how College Park could become a better college town. Former SGA president Andrew Rose created a presentation summarizing the charrette and a student forum that preceded it:

2006 SGA Charrette Presentation

The Diamondback covered the forum and event in several articles: “SGA forum to survey student opinion on city,” “Students suggest theater, shopping for city at forum,” “SGA holds event to plan ‘college town‘”

We have uploaded images of dozens of the drawings and plans produced during the charrette. We have included one image from each team on this page as a representative sample of some of the ideas created. All of the images are available through our Flickr account.

We hope to add more explanatory text describing the proposals illustrated below. If you attended the event and would like to contribute to this page, please contact us.
