M-Square
The M-Square Research Park will cover 124 acres near the College Park Metro Station along River Rd. It is planned to encompass 2.5 million SF of office space for public and private research and lab space all leased by the University. At build out the project is expected to employ 6,500 people. The park represents a new trend in universities across the country as they try to become more closely affiliated with a broad range of research institutions and governmental organizations. The arrangement provides
benefits for faculty and students as well as for building tenants who seek to tap the university’s research resources and talent.
Construction has begun on the research parks “anchor”: NOAA’s Center for Weather and Climate Prediction where virtually all the world’s meteorological data will pass through. Other tenants include MXF Technologies, the Center for the Advanced Study of Language, and the National Foreign Language Center.
